Popular youth hockey coach not backing down from fight of his life — cancer

Time to "Rally for Rafe!" ... Most of us who have been involved in the hockey and skating world on the North Shore know Rafe and Jill Aybar. They are the experts at helping children improve their skills & enjoy their time on the ice. We are fortunate to have them in our community!
Since the 1980s, Rafe has been teaching and coaching little hockey players with his signature style and knowledge. He has seen many of his students play in local youth leagues, high school, juniors, NTDP, college and the NHL. These kids needed Rafe's help to reach their goals and now Rafe needs your help to reach his goal of good health.
Last August, Rafe was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and has been undergoing extensive treatment for this aggressive illness. He has been treated with 3 different chemotherapy regimes since September 2016 and the physical, emotional and financial tolls have been extensive. Although he maintains a positive outlook, the side effects of the treatment have made it difficult to work as much as he has prior to this illness. Rafe always enjoys teaching, particularly when his former students bring their own children to him now. But he has had to greatly reduce his schedule, which has had a profound effect on his family's financial situation.
We hope you can help Rafe and his family at this challenging time. And by the way, for those of you who remember when the two Aybar children were skating around the rinks ... Harrison is in the Marines and Maddie has graduated from college!
Thanks to everyone in Rafe's World and let's Rally for Rafe!!
