House Program Information

Spring 2021 House League Overview

Our spring programming will begin with evaluations from 3/21-3/26. Our spring program will be 8 weeks long starting on 4/5 and ending 5/28. The travel season will include 2 ice touches per week, consisting of 1 skill session and 1 team practice. Teams will play 8-10 games through participation in 2 tournaments and/or games with area clubs. The goal will be to field three teams at each Youth level—Mites thru Bantams. If we have the numbers to support more teams at a level, we will adjust accordingly. The Girls program will include one team per level at the U10, U12, U14, U16 and a U19 age groups.  The skills sessions will be led by WHA staff and former Chicago Blackhawk and former Wilmette Brave, Tommy Wingels! For our goalies, we will continue to work with the Good as Gould group and provide weekly goalie clinics throughout the spring.

As it stands today, for our House Mite group, we will be offering a spring program that will include a once a week (most likely Friday's 5:30-6:30 pm) skills session and a 3v3 skate on either Saturday or Sunday mornings.

Practice and Game Information

Practice/ Game Location

  • Practices are held either at Centennial in Wilmette or North Shore Ice Arena in Northbrook.
  • Home games also occur at either Centennial or NSIA
  • Away games are scheduled at local arenas and typically involve no more than 30-45 minutes travel time.

Schedule

Families can generally anticipate a practice and a game each weekend. (an hour on Saturday and an hour on Sunday) Specific schedules and times will be determined once the number of teams at each level is set and games are scheduled with the other clubs. No practices or games over Thanksgiving or Winter breaks.

Team practices and games are managed by, USA Hockey Certified, experienced parent volunteer coaches and managers.

Volunteers Make This League Possible

Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles including: coach (on ice) and manager (off ice).

Both coaches and managers must register with USA Hockey and complete a thorough background check. Coaches have the additional requirements of an annual coaching clinic and age-appropriate online coaching modules through USA Hockey.

Please consider volunteering -- teams are limited essentially by the number of volunteers willing to coach and manage teams. Email the House Director for more information.
