11/20/02   Wilmette vs Barrington
This was a hard fought game, and we didn't give up.  Barrington scored 2 minutes into the game on a power play.  The second goal was also by Barrington about a minute later.  About 1 1/2 minutes after that, Beezer scored, assisted by Cook!  A lot of action in the first period!  Barrington scored a third goal with approximately 6 minutes left in the first period.  Wilmette's second goal was scored by Ross, with another assist from Cook (2nd period).  We certainly had a nice array of penalties!  A total of 20 minutes in the box!  Who knows, maybe we could beat these guys with a little less time in the box. Our defense worked very hard--let's hear it for them!  3rd goal was from O'Connell to Sims.  Nice work guys!

11/16/02   Wilmette at Chicago Chill
On a very cold brisk day in Lake Forest the Braves came in all prepared
to do some sword rattling with the Sabres. In the first period our one and
only "Cookie" (Jimmy Cook)scored a great goal    with assists from Howser
and Ross.  Our goalie Deidre Facklis was kept very busy in the period
catching flying pucks while our defense tried to hold off the Sabres.  The
second period began with the Sabres stepping up the pressure scoring three
goals.  Deidre was kept very busy at the net saving 8 shots on goal. At the
start of the third period the Braves were determined to make a quick come
back with Yoni Cohen scoring a goal with a perfect assist from Chris Bowman.
The Braves and the Sabres played an awesome game with 26 shots on goal for
the Braves and 24 for the Sabres.  The game ended 3-2 Sabres.

11/4/02   Wilmette at Chicago Chill
Pregame scenario: While the Chill was in the locker room dressed and focused on the task at hand, Wilmette Bantam Silver was bellied up to the bar pounding down Coke (I think it was just Coke, or Rum and Coke) and pizza, while the doting parents stood by, guzzling their beers.  When Mr. O'Malley yelled, "Last call," the place cleared out, with the exception of a few lushes. The Chill put up a good fight, and we had 2 good female goalies up against each other.  Our first goal was from Kamberos to Cohen, and the second was from Sullivan to Bielanski.  Our defensive players--Howser, Keane, Kitchie, O'Malley and Sims all played extremely well. We had some questionable penalties, but came out on top anyway! I guess we can't say,"You skate like a girl," anymore
10/30/02   Wilmette vs Evanston
On 10/30 the Wilmette Braves locked up with the Evanston Wildkits in the opening Bantam silver regular season game. Wilmette opened the scoring as Harry Ross found the open left side with an accurately placed wrist shot assisted by Ches Gayda. Evanston scored the next two goals, and held a 2-1 lead late into the 3rd period. With under 2 minutes to play, Wilmette pulled Connor Manning in favor of an extra skater. The strategy paid dividends as Jimmy Cook knotted the game at 2. Fate was smiling on the Braves and with 27 seconds left an Evanston skater who was left all alone to Connor's left slammed home a nice pass from behind the net for the game winner, 3-2.

10/13/02   Wilmette vs Flames
The low 40's temperature early Sunday morning reminded us that fall was here as we headed out to Carol Stream for the Flames game.  When we entered the rink, we were convinced Winter had arrived as well.  You know it's cold when the lady filming the game put a coat on the little dog.

There was nothing cold about 3 of the prettiest goals we are likely to see this year.   ESPN would love to get tape on these gems.  Jimmy Cook got the scoring rolling when he passed from the point down low to Eric Sims to the goalies' left.  When the goalie played Eric he slid the puck across to Ben Howser for a nice tap in on the right side.  Great puck work guys!!!!!   With the score tied 1-1 late in the second period, Wilmette came up with another beauty.  Christ Kamberos whipped a pass through the crease and Chris Bowman dove to one time the puck top shelf for the game winner.  As the second period ticked to an end Jimmy Cook came up with another dazzling pass. This time he streaked down the left side on a 2 on 1 with Ches Gayda.  Jimmy waited for the D and the goalie to commit to him and then slid it over to Ches for an easy goal to cl;ose out the scoring 3-1.   Ches never stopped flying and was in the perfect place  to knock it home.  Great plays fellas!!!!!  Even though a man in the crease wiped it out, I would be remiss if I didn't credit Michael Sullivan with  a sweet roof job over the Flames goalie's shoulder.  Nice shot Michael.

Great 3-1 win the Bantam Men

10/1/02   Wilmette 7 Barrington 1  MANAGER'S SON FORGETS JERSEY AND AVOIDS EMBARRASSMENT BY SCORING GOAL.    A stronger and faster Wilmette team overcame the Redwings on 10/1.  Beezer Bielanski scored the first goal 54 seconds into the 1st period, as well as the 3rd goal in the second period.  Connor Manning had a great game with a total of 18 saves.  The second goal was a team effort from Gayda to Cook in the 1st period, and Ches also assisted with the 3rd and 5th goals. Goal 4 was scored by defensive player Keane, who maybe should forget his jersey at future games also!  The 5th, 6th, and 7th goals were scored by Sullivan, Bowman, and Kamberos, respectively, with assists from O'Malley, Kamberos and Bowman.  And hey, how about that great defense?  Other highlights: The ref appeared to be in a frisky mood as he sprayed at the Wilmette parents.
